In the geographical area of Zevulun and adjoining Issachar Israel shall “SUCK the abundance of the seas and treasures HID in the sand” (Deuteronomy 33:18-19); in the adjacent area of Asher, shaped like a leg, Israel shall “dip (Asher’s) foot in oil” (of course, the word “neft” was unknown to the prophet, as was the existence or importance of petrol). The “shoes” on this “foot” of Asher shall be of “iron and brass,” which invokes a vision of drill towers in that area (see Deut. 33:24-25). Of adjacent Manasseh and Ephraim Jacob says in Bereshit [Genesis] 49:26, that the blessings of the patriarchs shall be “on the HEAD of Joseph” (i.e. the area of Ephraim), “and on the CROWN of the head of him that was separate from his brethren” (which is the area of Manasseh).

I.e., this geographical area of Israel is the prophetically indicated landmass and sea basin underneath which abundance of natural oil (certainly not olive oil!) will be found. Whether that is oil resident underneath our soil or sucked from our neighbors’ oilfields because of our lower position, I don’t know.

Following is part of an article by Hal Lindsay, written in February 2003:

In 1981, a Christian named John Brown heard Rev. James Spillman give a series of messages entitled “The Treasures of the Deep”. The messages were about Spillman’s deeply held beliefs from the Scripture that God was going to give Israel vast wealth through the discovery of oil in the Last Days.

John Brown was strangely and deeply moved by what he heard. A key verse in Spillman’s discovery is about how God would bless Joseph and his two sons in “THE LAST DAYS” (Genesis 49:1-2).

God promised, “Joseph is a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a WELL; his branches run over the wall … [you will be blessed] by the God of your father who will help you, and by the Almighty who will bless you with blessings of heaven above and BLESSINGS OF THE DEEP THAT LIES BENEATH …” (Genesis 49:22, 25 NKJ)

Note that it speaks of blessings that will exceed all his brothers’ and overflow to others. And that these blessings will come from “the DEEP THAT LIES BENEATH.”

In ancient times, no one dreamed of the kind of wealth that was stored DEEP under the land beneath his feet. The technology for finding oil by drilling wells was first discovered by the Americans.

The first successful well was drilled at Titusville, Pennsylvania on August 27, 1859 – just in time for the industrial revolution whose lifeblood is oil.

The first oil discovered in the Middle East was in Persia in 1908. It was soon learned that the Persian Gulf area contained most of the oil reserves in the world. Oil has given the Muslim people such leverage over the reborn State of Israel that virtually no one but the US will dare support them.

Virtually the whole world fears being cut off from the Muslim oil supply. But prophecy indicates that this would not be able to destroy Israel, nor keep them from great wealth in the last days.

John Brown could not get this message out of his mind. Although he was very successful at working with a tool-making company, he began to be moved in an irresistible way toward helping Israel find this oil.

Finally, God spoke to John and told him that he was to go to Israel and that He would show him what to do. So in 1983, Brown resigned from his company, took all his savings, which was a little over one million dollars, and went to Israel by faith. He founded a company called “Zion Oil & Gas”.

Recent evaluations of geological studies reveal that deep underneath the very land to which he has licenses; there is the potential of 20 billion barrels of oil and trillions of cubic feet of gas.

Needless to say, this would change the whole strategic balance of the Middle East and the world. Israel would no longer be hostage to the Muslim oil cartel. It would also become incredibly wealthy over night.

Prophetically, I believe oil will be found there on his leases. The first exploration well will be completed by early next year. Another company drilling on the extreme edge of the dome under his leases is making some very encouraging discoveries.

They verify that the area could contain untold wealth. I do know that this is just the right prophetic time for these discoveries to be made.

I cannot believe that God would only bless the Muslims with oil. I can barely wait to see what will happen next. May God bless John Brown and his associates for their vision.

And may God fulfill all His promises to His people Israel.

I heard the same message by Spillman at Christ for the Nations in Dallas, Texas. I, too, had studied the treasure that coucheth beneath Israel's soil; the honey to be "sucked" out of the rock, and the "oil" out of the flinty rock². 

Isaac blessed Jacob the heir with the "fatness", or "oiliness" of the earth, which is NOT olive oil! And then gave to Esau a spill-over from that "fatness", saying, "... your dwelling shall be the fatness/oiliness/greasiness of the earth..."³  According to Scripture prophecies the calamity of Esau shall come upon Dedan⁴, which is in today's Saudi Arabia and the area of most of her oilfields. 

The royal house of Saudi Arabia is not only a house of usurpers, who stole throne and kingdom from the great-grandfather of the late King Hussein of Jordan, but they also claim descent from Esau, the Arabic name being Saud.

Therefore G-d also says in Isaiah 34:5-12, that His sword descends with judgment upon Edom... His sword sated with blood and gorged with fat/oil/grease... 

"For the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah, a great slaughter in the land of Edom... Their land shall be soaked with blood, and their sand/soil made rich with fat/greasy with grease/oily with oil... For the LORD has a day of vengeance, a YEAR of recompense for the CAUSE OF ZION..."

"The streams/wadis of Edom shall be BURNED INTO PITCH (impossible without the presence of petroleum) and her sand into BRIMSTONE; her land/sand shall become BURNING PITCH. Night and day it shall not be quenched; its smoke shall go up forever (impossible, unless the underground oil reservoirs keep feeding the fire, the heat, the smoke). From generation to generation it shall lie waste ... They shall name it No Kingdom There, and all its princes shall be nothing." 

Why such judgments? It is for the cause of Zion! Because Saudi Arabia is the main financial supporter of Islamic terror groups sworn to destroy Israel. G-d allowed Esau's "spillover blessing" to come up first to see what he would do with it -- bless his brother Jacob, or curse him? The princes of Saudi Arabia have used the oil to curse Israel and blackmail the whole world into oppressing His people. Therefore their kingdom will fall and all of them will become as nothing at all. 

And the United States of America has quitely acquiesced with her "friend Saudi Arabia" in order to keep Edom at good will. Therefore she will also share in the judgments declared upon Edom=Saudi Arabia.
