A Jewish believer in Yeshua, Jonathan Bernis16, founder and executive director of  "Hear O Israel Ministries" (and now president of "Jewish Voice Ministries International"), went recently to India to proclaim the year of Jubilee and good news. Here are excerpts from his report:17

“Walking in the footsteps of Thomas (the Apostle who brought the Gospel to India) aroused many forces in the spiritual and the natural realms to repeat his martyrdom... It was as if all hell was seeking to prevent me from going up onto that mountain and blowing the Shofar. Beyond that, the danger to my life by those opposing the mission was so intense that at one point the chief of police called for a hundred extra guards and a team of commandos.”

“On January 23 (1999) I ascended the mountain and blew the Shofar of Jubilee. The next day I stood before over a hundred thousand people, many of them in robes and sitting on the grass of an enormous expanse. Most of them had never seen a Jew before. When I lifted up the Shofar of Jubilee, it was as if spontaneous revival broke... When I blew the Shofar, screams of deliverance swept through the multitudes. When I spoke the Aaronic blessing another wave of release and revival broke out. There were continual reports of healing and sight given to the blind.”

When Bro. Jonathan gave an altar call an estimated 70,000 people responded that night and gave their lives to the G-d of Israel for the first time. Hallelujah!

Many times I have said that investing in the salvation of the Jews and in Jewish ministries is the best investment one could make. Why? Because Jews are better? No, because G-d opened the gates of salvation by the Jewish people, and He’ll also close the gates by them. Jewish believers will go to every people, nation, tribe and tongue and fulfill their G-d ordained destiny and mission to be G-d’s witnesses and blessing to the nations. What a loss not to recognize the hour and to fail to invest in G-d’s anointed harvesters of the time.

On Israel’s campuses the Gospel is openly shared by Jewish believers. On the campus of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem an information booth was set up and among the various materials offered, the Hebrew N. T. (“Brit Hadasha” » “New Covenant”) was the most popular. Orthodox Jewish students set up their own information booth alongside that of the believers, and discussions ensued. These Orthodox students are as zealous for their beliefs as Paul the apostle was. Imagine what impact an army of “Pauls” would have upon world evangelism?

“Salvation is of the Jews,” the Lord said. Yet, few acknowledge the debt they owe the Jewish people who gave them the knowledge of the only Living G-d, His Word and His Salvation. How pleasing it would be to G-d for prominent TV ministries and mega churches to support not only their own agenda but also their Jewish brethren and their work in the Gospel. This is Scriptural and righteous, and blessed be everyone who makes a generous return for the blessings they have received from and through the Jewish people18.

The Death of King Hussein of Jordan

Following th events of the so-called “peace-process” and the personalities involved, we can observe an awe-inspiring pattern: whoever challenges the Holy One of Israel by defying His irrevocable oath19  will fall.

The main personalities involved in the “Camp David Accords” shortly thereafter disappeared from the world political scene: Egyptian President Anwar Sadat was killed by Islamic fanatics; President Jimmy Carter was humiliated by them, and not re-elected; PM Menachem Begin literally stumbled, suffering a lasting hip injury, the loss of his wife and governmentYPresident Bush was not re-elected; PM Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated; President Clinton harassed, humiliated, exposed as a liar and made a worldwide spectacle; and now another major player in the process of dividing up Israel “piece-by-piece”, King Hussein of Jordan, died of non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

Each of these were praised by the world as “peace makers”, yet the Word says: “I have set my king on Zion, my holy hill... Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be WARNED, O rulers of the earth...”20  And, “I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the valley of Jehosaphat and enter into judgment with them there, on account of my people and my heritage, Israel... because they have divided up MY  land...” 21

Personal Note

In closing, let me share a little of my heart  with you. I am deeply discouraged and the words in Isaiah 49:4 seem to be unbearably true in my life, for indeed I feel “I have labored in vain, and have spent my strength for nothing." I see so very little for almost 20 years of toil and faithful labor. I have sought His Kingdom and His righteousness with all my might, and have given freely, yet I feel like a beggar for the Lord, as one who finds no room in the inn.

I can only do this: continue in hope, while persevering. My soul is cast down within me, and my will to go on at its ebb. Truly, may "my right be with the L-RD, and my recompense with my G-d."

Apropos, “G-d”: some of you have asked why I use the dash inside the word G-d, instead of the “o”. This is a common practice among the Jewish people so far back, I don’t even know when this started. There were so many pagan gods and so many lords, while we worship only one G-d and L-RD, the Holy One of Israel, the only living G-d. Out of reverence for His Holy Person and the first commandment - and to visibly differentiate between Him and the many pagan gods and lords - Jews leave the vowel letters out in whatever language we write G-d and L-RD. Thus these names are legible but not  pronounceable.

Now may the Lord bless and keep you, prosper and preserve you in health. Until He comes

I am yours in Him,

Annelore
