The nations choose to ignore that “the L-RD… founded Zion, for the afflicted of His people to find refuge there [from the Nazi Holocaust].”¹⁹  Therefore none of their leaders will realize that G-d ordained for DEMONIC SPIRITS to assemble them into that Valley of Decision for that great war at Armageddon. The reference is to the plain of Megiddo. Towering above the plain is the fortress of  Megiddo, named Har-Megiddo ("the hill of Megiddo"). It was located in the southern part of the Jezreel (Esdralon) Valley, guarding the pass of the best north-south trade-route in Canaan. Many great battles have been fought there²⁰.

All are arming themselves for their own destruction, as it is written: “The nations have sunk down into the pit which they have made; in the net which they hid, their own foot has been caught.” Again, “For without cause they hid their net for Israel [me]; without cause they dug a pit for our [my] soul. Let destruction come upon them [him] UNAWARES, and let the net which they [he] hid catch themselves; into that VERY DESTRUCTION let them fall.”²¹

Likewise, Zechariah 12 of the Living Bible states: “I will make Jerusalem and Judah like a cup of poison to all the nearby nations that send their armies to surround Jerusalem. Jerusalem will be a heavy stone burdening the world. And though all the nations of the earth unite in an attempt to move her, they will all be crushed. In that day I will bewilder the armies drawn up against her, and make fools of them, for I will watch over the people of Judah, but blind her enemies… In that day I will make the settlements of the West-Bank (clans of Judah) like a little fire that sets the forest aflame – like a burning match among the sheaves; they will burn up all the neighboring nations right and left, while Jerusalem stands UNMOVED [i.e.. remains the capital of Israel]. The Lord will defend the people of Jerusalem… For My plan is to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.”²²

Notwithstanding, the nation of Israel will not escape entirely, just as there have died so many Jews ever since they began to return to the Land: immediately prior to the rebirth of the nation 6 Million died under Hitler; 2 Million Jews perished in the Roman wars; and about the same number in the Inquisition. The remainder will have to pass through the fire²³ (however, I believe the Nazi Holocaust was that "Day of Jacob's trouble" and G-d delivered him out of it by having the nation of Israel rebirthed. Surely, G-d is not gathering His people back into the Land and have them build and rebuild cities and a whole infrastructure only to have two thirds destroyed again. This is not the G-d I know. G-d is not nasty like this). But alas -- Jerusalem will at first be taken, plundered, the women raped and half of the inhabitants scattered abroad during the last 3 ½ years of the 7-years Tribulation period²⁴. Then the tide will change. The Lord Himself will fight against those nations²⁵, because there was no man to intervene in behalf of, or help or uphold Israel²⁶. 

By the nations’ own chemical weapons their flesh shall be consumed while still on their feet; their eyes rot in their sockets and their tongues in their mouths. Panic-stricken they will fight against each other²⁷. Their blood will flow for 200 miles, at some points as high as a horse’s bridle²⁸. All the sophisticated war-arsenal which  the nations so diligently accumulated at enormous cost will be unleashed in a nuclear, chemical and biological holocaust lasting 45 days²⁹. As a result, the balance between earth and atmosphere will be destroyed, thereby triggering the worst of natural catastrophes.
