On the day of Israel's Declaration of Independence, which contained a sincere appeal for friendship with the Arab world, the armed forces of Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq, supported by contingents from Saudi-Arabia and Yemen, crossed their frontiers and marched against Israel. On May 15, 1948, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Azam Pasha, told a press conference in Cairot: “This will be a war of extermination and a momentous massacre51 which will be spoken of like the Mongolian massacres and the Crusades” (BBC broadcast). And that on the heel of the genocide of six million Jew! Orders were then issued by the Arab League, exhorting the Arab population to seek temporary refuge in neighboring countries, and assured them that they would soon be able to return and share in the distribution of the massacred Jews' possess- ions. Hence hundreds of thousands of Palestine Arabs cleared the battlefield for the slaughter. However --- the “Mongolian massacre” did not take place. The Arab armies lost the war. The Palestinians, who had cleared the battlefield in hope of spoil, found themselves displaced. It was the “Yishuv” who extended an invitation – not the “brother” Arab nations - to the Palestine Arabs to return to their homes and properties. Those who returned are holding Israeli citizenship with opportunities for a prosperous future. The Palestinian refugee problem - kept as such by the Arab League as a political propaganda weapon against Israeli “occupation” - is a direct result of this war. The crushing defeat of the 1948 war, followed by yet others in the wake of Arab attempts “to drive the Jews into the Sea,” each time their rhetoric becoming more boastful and bloodcurdling, and each time their defeat yet more devastating. In February 1956 an Egyptian Divisional Commander had issued a blunt directive: “Every officer must prepare himself for the inevitable struggle with Israel, with the objective of realizing our NOBLE AIM, namely the annihilation of Israel and her destruction in the shortest possible time and in the most brutal and cruel of battles.” An Arabic translation of Hitler's “Mein Kampf” (My Fight) was issued to Egyptian officers and found in their positions during the Sinai Campaign. A communi- que signed jointly by Nasser and Iraqi President Aref in 1963 proclaims, that “The aim of the Arabs is the destruction of Israel.” This followed a summit meeting of the League members in Cairo on January 1964, attended by 13 Arab states. Note, that these Arab states comprise an area of 4 Million square miles and a population of 80 Million, while Israel was/is 1/40th of their size in population, and 1/500th their size in area. Vast Arab armies, equipped with the newest of war-gear, were defeated by an army a fraction their size using war-gear discarded by other nations. These defeats – averted from being total by U.S. and UN interference - were so damaging to Arab self-esteem as to be intolerable, rendering Arab rejection of Israel’s existence implacable. On September 1, 1967, an Arab summit conference at Khartoum stated categorically, that the united Arab world would not rest until Israel was “wiped off the map, and her name would be remembered no more among the family of nations.”52 Until this day the Arab League upholds their policy of “a just and comprehensive peace” in the Middle East by “ending the Israeli occupation of Palestine,” which is a catch phrase for the destruction of Israel. No peace with Israel; no recognition of Israel, regardless of Arab assurances to the contrary to Westerners.
Opening your Bibles to Psalm 83, especially in the Living Bible, you will be shocked to find that Asaph apparently was eavesdropping thousands of years ago, overhearing the crafty plans of the League nations, who conspired together not to rest until Israel's liquidation was achieved, and sealed this with a pact. Then Asaph lists the participating nations, namely those present at the summit conference. Similarly, when reading Psalm 2, one is aghast with the timely accuracy in the description of present day events. For indeed, the (Arab) nations assemble with commotion (uproar and confusion of voices53), and the (Palestinian) people imagine, meditate upon and devise an empty scheme, while the leaders of the earth take their places (at the U.N. tables and summit meetings). There they take counsel together AGAINST THE LORD AND HIS ANOINTED (which must not only refer to the Messiah, but can also indicate the nation of Israel54). They say – LITERALLY - in leaflets printed underground and distributed among the Palestinian population: “Let us break their bands (of occupation) asunder, and cast their cords (of control) from us” (Amplified Version; obvious interjections my own). Note the reaction of G-d seated in the heavens
above: He just laughs! He has them in derision! He also is extremely angry,
declaring that He has already firmly settled the matter in advance, regardless
of the nations’ efforts to the contrary: His King will be established on
His holy hill of Zion. And He warns the political leaders and rulers of
the earth to act wisely, no longer passing over and ignoring the essential
role of G-d in this conflict, but on the contrary to be instructed and
warned to reckon with G-d henceforth.
